Former Bachelorette Angie Kent has spoken candidly about her use of filler and how she started getting lip injections when she first appeared on Gogglebox Australia.

Speaking on her podcast Two Girls One Pod, which she co-hosts with Yvie Jones, the 31-year-old revealed she wanted to change her appearance after seeing herself on TV and getting ‘mean’ comments from viewers.

Angie said she decided to get lip filler because she had ‘no top lip’, but soon started receiving comments from trolls saying she’d had too much work done.

She said of her TV career: ‘I went from being 24 to almost 32 and it’s such a jump and of course you’re going to change.’

‘It might not even be [cosmetic] work – it’s weight gain, medical stuff. I remember sitting on the [Gogglebox] couch, I had no work at first, I had my little… no top lip. That’s fine, some people don’t want a top lip. I wanted a top lip. I got it.’

After getting lip filler, Angie said the criticism changed from people saying she wasn’t pretty enough to be on TV to having ‘ruined’ herself with ‘too much work’.

‘It went from being, “She’s not very pretty,” then you get work and it goes to, “Oh, she has too much work,”‘ she said. 

‘I’m not there to look good on the red couch; I was there to have a laugh.’

Yvie, who starred alongside Angie on Gogglebox for three years, chimed in: ‘It’s amazing how much we bought into it once we started seeing ourselves on TV, and how we wanted to change how we looked.’

‘Yeah, because people are friggen mean!’ Angie replied.  

Angie featured on Gogglebox from 2015 to 2018 and went on to appear on other reality shows including The Bachelorette in 2019.

Fans noticed her cheeks appeared more prominent than usual, while her lips looked fuller and more pronounced than in the past.

Angie makes no secret of the fact she’s been getting Botox and filler for years.

‘They say it is preventive. I just love it… just a little bit. You don’t need it often, maybe once every year,’ she said of her Botox habit during a 2019 interview.

‘I have got real everything but I look after my skin so I get a little bit of [Botox] and cheeky fillers.’ 

‘There has been a lot of talk about me having lots of work, that is not true. I haven’t had plastic surgery,’ she added.
