Ashley Tisdale sent her husband to buy ‘400 BOOKS’ before Architectural Digest shoot

Ashley Tisdale sent her husband to buy '400 BOOKS' before Architectural Digest shoot 2

Ashley Tisdale has an eye for decor – and her own interior design business – so she felt ready to completely revamp her new Los Angeles home last year.

The 36-year-old actress proudly showed off all of her hard work both inside and outside of her stunning $4.75million Mediterranean-style villa to Architectural Digest.

Before the shoot, however, Tisdale admitted that she panicked over her bare bookshelves and sent husband Chris French out to purchase ‘400 books.’

‘These bookshelves, I have to be honest, actually did not have books in them a couple days ago,’ Ashley revealed in a video. ‘I had my husband go to the bookstore and I was like, “You need to get 400 books.”‘

‘Obviously my husband was like, “We should be collecting books over time and putting them in the shelves.” And I was like, “No, no, no, no.”‘ she added.

While the 400 number was likely hyperbole, Ashley got her way and by the time she invited Architectural Digest inside, her built-in bookshelves were filled.

Tisdale decorated her home in the height of the pandemic while she was pregnant with her first child, Jupiter.

‘I pretty much designed this whole house through Instagram,’ she explained. ‘We weren’t really going to stores and stuff, and we weren’t going out. I was pregnant, so I was being super safe.’

‘I went with the mentality of falling in love with every piece,’ she added.

Tisdale and French purchased the home in January of 2021 and it features three bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms and gorgeous views of the Hollywood Hills.

Built in 1923, it was previously owned by film executive Roeg Sutherland (son of actor Donald Sutherland), who bought the property for $4.22million.

‘I fully love this house. I love every piece of everything I’ve done here, and I’m really proud of myself,’ she said.

Ashley described her style as ‘neutral chic but also quirky and fun.’ Her living space is a mix of textures – with wood, marble, leather and furs – all mixed together in a calming palette of warm neutral shades with pops of black.

‘I was never into color as much. I was always into neutrals. And there’s something about being pregnant and seeing little spots where I could add color to it that made me feel like, ‘Oh, this gonna be a fun home,” she said.

One space with a decidedly more obvious flare for whimsy is her daughter’s nursery, which Ashley re-did after the baby was born to give it more omph.

‘I started to get to know her, and I was like, okay, this is a little bit too vanilla-y for her. We need to pump up the funkiness because she just has a cool, fun personality,’ Tisdale explained. ‘I think she has a design eye to be honest.’

The star’s affinity for design is not a mere hobby, last year she launched her brand,  Frenshe Interiors.
