At 97, Former Nigerian First Lady, Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi dies

On Monday, August 23rd it was confirmed that Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi, the wife of late Nigerian head of state, Major General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi, is dead.
She died at the age of 97 survived by children and grandchildren.

Before being overthrown and assassinated in the 1966 Nigerian counter-coup Victoria’s husband Aguiyi-Ironsi was the supreme commander of the National Military Government for six months.
