Attention Lagosians: How prepared are you as NMET predicts 270 days of rainfall in 2020? 2

Residents of Lagos have been put on high alert by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency that the state will witness an average of nine months worth of rainfall this year.

Lagos, because of its terrain as a coastal state is always susceptible to high rainfall and flooding but the increasing frequency of extreme weather events indicates that year 2020 will likely experience days with extremely high amounts of rainfall and may result in flooding.

In 2019, like in previous years, significant parts of Lagos states were flooded reportedly as a result of incessant rainfall which led to the release of water from the Oyan Dam in Abeokuta. The floods led to hardships experienced by the residents of some communities in Lagos as their houses and shops were submerged by flood.

Now, NMET warns, 2020 will be even worse. Are you prepared?
