‘It wasn’t fair’: Big Brother’s Brian Dowling has reignited his feud with Davina McCall and claims she didn’t apologise to him after a row over the series in 2020

Two years on, the pair’s feud has not come to an end, with Brian telling The Sun: ‘I’ve not got an apology for stuff that was said.

‘I was uncomfortable with Davina’s truth because they weren’t Davina’s truths to tell. They were my truths to tell, and how I felt regarding my firing from Channel 5.

‘Davina worked on a show on Channel 4. Davina and I had a good relationship up until the summer of last year, but things were said publicly that weren’t true and weren’t fair.’

MailOnline has contacted Davina’s representatives for comment.

Davina was the original host of Big Brother but left in 2010 when it was axed from Channel 4 to Channel 5.

Brian appeared on Big Brother twice – in series 2 in 2001 and nine years later on 2010’s Ultimate Big Brother – before being invited to host the show when it moved over to Channel 5.

He presented from 2011 to 2013 before being taken over by Emma Willis – something he claims he wasn’t told about and only discovered after reading it in a newspaper.

After the show was axed for good in 2018, it came back for a highlights special in 2020 featuring memorable moments and chats with former contestants and presenters.

However, Brian did not appear,  and shared a cryptic tweet hinting he wasn’t offered the chance to take part in Best Shows Ever, tweeting a fan: ‘You are not the only one. Actually at this stage it’s getting rather funny. People trying to rewrite history.’

Following Brian’s comments about his experience working on the show, Davina took to social media to clarify that Brian was offered the chance to appear on Best Shows Ever.

She tweeted: ‘Just an FYI . We did ask @brianofficial to be part of the show. He was ultimate housemate!!!! That was a no brainer.’

Davina also hit back at claims the show was ‘trying to rewrite history’ as she clarified that they were not ignoring Brian’s stint as host.

In the highlights show Rylan Clarke-Neal asked Emma what it was like to take over as presenter of Big Brother after working with the ‘Big Mother’ Davina.

Davina defended her statement by tweeting to say: ‘This is what he said. He was referring to when she worked with me on C4.

‘Clear as day. He never said she took over from me as host.’

Since Big Brother came to an end in 2018, fans have been calling for the series to find a new home, but the show is yet to return to UK screens.

Despite spawning a slew of international spin-offs, the UK version became the most well-known, and pulled in ratings of up to 10 million viewers at its peak.

In later years, the show gained higher ratings from its Celebrity versions, with its final run sparking headlines when Roxanne Pallett falsely claimed housemate Ryan Thomas ‘punched’ her, sparking huge backlash from viewers.

Celebrity Big Brother Australia arrives on E4 from Sunday February 6th.
