Boko Haram kill scores of Nigerian Soldiers in an ambush attack in Damboa-Maiduguri Area (Graphic photos) 2

Barely twenty hours after the Defense Headquarters reported that 17 Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters along the Damboa-Maiduguri highway, multiple sources are now reporting that the Insurgents killed about 28 soldiers in the area.

According to reports, the soldiers were attacked in an ambush when troops of 25 Task Force Brigade alongside Special Forces of Sector 2 were sent to the area for clearance operations.

Military sources close to Sahara Reporters said;

“We lost about 28 soldiers to Boko Haram terrorists. The guys came unexpectedly with sophisticated weapons.”

“They were about 120 soldiers who were on clearance operations. We had information that some people were being held captive by the insurgents and that was why the soldiers were mobilised to clear the area.”

“The soldiers ran into ambush along Damboa-Maiduguri Road. We later sent in a reinforcement to clear the area and recover their bodies.”

However, the Director of Defense Media Operations, Major-General John Enenche in a statement said only two Soldiers were killed.

The War against the Insurgents has been on for more than a decade mainly in the Northeastern States of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe and more than 30,000 lives have been lost with Millions of people internally displaced.
