Governors of the Northeast region has backed the idea of the Federal Government hiring of foreign mercenaries to help in the ongoing war against Boko Haram.

Taraba State Governor, Mr Darius Ishaku said while on a condolence visit to Professor Babagana Zulum after the recent attack by Boko Haram in Jere Local Government Area of Borno State.

Recall that Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum had earlier appealed to President Buhari to consider the option of inviting mercenaries to help the military in the fight against Boko Haram in the region.

He added that the region cannot continue to mourn every time, instead, drastic measures, such as bringing on mercenaries should be considered.

In his words;

“We are indeed saddened and traumatised. I will key into your request, which you said that the Federal Government should invite some mercenaries to help us out of this problem, because what you can’t do, what you can’t solve, I think we should invite who can solve it for us.”

“We cannot continuously be mourning, there has to be a time to stop the mourning. All of us in the North-East Governors Forum, we are pleading with the Federal Government to find a lasting solution to the issue of Boko Haram.”
