Celebrity chef Colin Fassnidge says his life has gone from famine to feast

Two years ago he was riding high as a celebrity chef.

And then the pandemic hit and Colin Fassnidge lost five jobs in a single day.

Now the Irish-born TV reality star says he is back and busier than ever, as he juggles roles on Kitchen Nightmares Australia and Channel Seven’s My Kitchen Rules.

In February it was revealed that Colin would step into some big shoes as host of Kitchen Nightmares Australia. 

The series originally soared to popularity in the UK and the US while fronted by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

When he is not on the road with that hit show, he curly-haired fast talker is filming episodes of another TV cooking success, My Kitchen Rules.

‘Some of the kitchens I’ve seen have been shocking,’ Colin said. He added that he loved doing the show, where each episode he will try and guide a failing restaurant to success

The Dublin-born celebrity chef says doing MKR is like stepping into an ‘old shoe’.

‘I’ve been doing that show for 10 years and it’s good to be back,’ the 46-year-old told The Daily Telegraph in an interview on Saturday.

Colin added that he loved doing Kitchen Nightmares, where each episode he will try and guide a failing restaurant to success.

‘Some of the kitchens I’ve seen have been shocking,’ he said.

Though not as high-voltage as the famously hot-tempered Gordon Ramsay, Colin offered a hint of what fans can expect

‘I would say how badly the food has been cooked is dangerous,’ he teased. ‘And I do let them [the contestants] know that’

Colin insists he won’t be exhibiting the same short temper as his British counterpart.

‘If you are after a show screaming and shouting in people’s faces, that is not what I want to do,’ the Irish-born restaurateur said.

‘I don’t think anyone wants to see me go in at this time with the hospitality industry on its knees and be screaming and shouting at people’ Colin said. ‘I am a lot older now. Maybe 10 years ago I was like that, but not now.’ Gordon is pictured on Kitchen Nightmares

Kitchen Nightmares ran in the UK for five seasons from 2004 to 2007, before returning for a one-off season in 2014.

It also ran from 2007 to 2014 in the U.S. on Fox.
