Civilian JTF get salary bonus, rice for war on Boko Haram/ISWAP 2

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno has approved a one-month salary bonus for thousands of volunteers fighting Boko Haram to groups, including the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and hunters.

Mr Zulum disclosed this on Monday when he hosted leaders of the different sectors of the volunteers and sanitation workers operating in Maiduguri Metropolis and Jere local government.

The governor included sanitation staff cleaning up communities destroyed by insurgents before reconstruction and cleaners working in government establishments and agencies.

He added that the gesture was to show gratitude to the volunteers for their gallantry and sacrifices in complementing the efforts of the military and other armed forces in the fight against insurgents.

“You all, our gallant volunteers, have been working assiduously to secure Borno State. Even though you are in the thousands, there is no amount of support that is too much considering the sacrifices you make,” Mr Zulum explained. “On behalf of the entire people of Borno, I convey our deepest appreciation. We are eternally grateful for all the sacrifices you have been making. Thank you so much.”

According to him, as early as 6:00 a.m., many sweepers are already on the streets working.

”Many of you are involved with the cleaning of our communities before reconstructions. We recognise that your contributions are very essential, and we thank you so much,” he said.

The governor also announced the release of one bag of rice to each of the volunteers and sanitation workers in addition to the support.

Responding, the CJTF leader, Baba Lawan, and the chairman of hunters, Mai Durma, expressed gratitude to Mr Zulum, noting that he has supported those at the front line, those injured and families of those killed in battles.
