Former President of the United States of America, Donald Trump has congratulated Nigerians as well as President Buhari for placing a ban on popular microblogging application, Twitter.
Donald Trump, in a statement, said the Buhari-led administration did the right thing in prohibiting the use of Twitter in the country.
He also wished he had done it before he was voted out of office last November.
His statement reads;
“Congratulations to the country of Nigeria, who just banned Twitter because they banned their President. More COUNTRIES should ban Twitter and Facebook for not allowing free and open speech – all voices should be heard.”
‘In the meantime, competitors will emerge and take hold. Who are they to dictate good and evil if they are evil?’
“Perhaps I should have done it while I was President. But Zuckerberg kept calling me and coming to the White House for dinner telling me how great I was. 2024?”
The Twitter ban in the country comes after President Buhari’s tweet that referred to the civil war between 1967-1970 was reported and afterward deleted by the organization.
Nigeria’s Twitter ban enters day 6 today.
