The Lagos State Government is strongly considering shutdown places of large gatherings due to and the recent confirmed cases of CoronaVirus in the country and it appears that Churches and Mosques might be the first sect of casualties.
In a statement released by the Commissioner of Information in the State; Mr.G Omotoso, the state government is considering strongly to tell religious leaders to halt services.
The statement further reads that :
“We are all aware that the federal government asked the National Youth Service Corps to shut down orientation camps; yesterday, the commissioner for home affairs said there will be a meeting with religious leaders today.
“It is going to be suggested to them to maybe stop Friday and Sunday services – wherever we have large gatherings… I am sure they will be advised to shut down the services in the interest of the public and all of us. I am sure they are going to comply.”
One Tuesday, a third case of CoronaVirus victim was confirmed in Lagos State and the victim is a 30 year old Nigerian who came into the via a British Airways Airline.
The Federal Government has since placed travel restrictions on thirteen countries which have more than 1000 confirmed cases of Coronavirus.
