D’banj cleared of rape accusations by the Police as Seyitan withdraws petition
Popular Nigerian musician Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo also known as D’banj has been cleared of the rape accusation against him by Seyitan Babalola.
Reports have surfaced on Friday, July 24th that Seyitan withdrew the petition against D’banj.
Seyitan withdrew her petition against D’banj through a letter sent by her lawyer Olamide Omileye on Friday, July 17th to the Inspector-General of Police.
It is unknown the reason why Seyitan withdrew the rape charges against D’banj as she stated it was for personal reasons despite the majority of the social media space questioning the musicians’ character already.
Stand To End Rape Initiative also known as STER, a human rights group stated that they followed the case and Seyitan was not intimidated nr did she receive any bribe to withdraw the case.
Umar Sanda, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Admin), stated that the case was dropped because there was no substantial evidence to prove that D’banj raped Seyitan.
