Bivol won the fight by unanimous decision, with scores of 117–111, 117–111, and 118–110, after outlanding Ramirez 131 to 107 in overall punches and 64 to 38 in jabs, despite his opponent’s narrow lead of 69 to 67 in power connects. Bivol expressed his desire to face unified light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev for a title unification bout during the post-fight interview. Bivol was later named The Ring “Fighter of the Year” for 2022.

Bivol’s previous fight was against Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez, where he successfully defended his WBA title after his unexpected win against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in May of the same year. While there are rumors of a potential rematch between Bivol and Canelo, who is speculated to face John Ryder in May, Hearn acknowledges that there are other options to consider as well.
