Bivol’s previous fight was against Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez, where he successfully defended his WBA title after his unexpected win against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in May of the same year. While there are rumors of a potential rematch between Bivol and Canelo, who is speculated to face John Ryder in May, Hearn acknowledges that there are other options to consider as well.

The promoter told DAZN: “End of May or early June, for Dmitry Bivol. He’s in a really interesting situation where Canelo Alvarez is desperately trying to get his revenge.

“Obviously there’s the [Artur] Beterbiev undisputed fight, the Joshua Buatsi voluntary defence, obviously, while he’s waiting to see what happens.

“We’re in talks with Dmitry and his team about his next fight.”
