The dream of at least 8 out of every 10 students at the University or College is to graduate with a good Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).
It is believed that graduating with a high CGPA not only affords one the opportunity of getting grants, scholarships, awards and so on, it also gives one the opportunity of getting a lucrative job, thereby living a successful and comfortable life.
However, one’s high grade point might not necessarily be a panacea for a good life after college. Skills, knowledge about professional courses are some of the many requirements job recruiters look for when hiring.
Does this then mean that having a high cumulative grade point average is not a guarantee that one will have a successful career?
Nigerians on micro-blogging App, Twitter have waded into the seemingly controversial topic as they share their opinions. While others believe that having a high CGPA is not enough about today’s realities, others share a different opinion.
The started with a tweet posted by a popular career coach, Ogbeni Dipo.
If your CGPA is anything from 1.5 to 2.9, do your absolute best to scale up to at least 3.0.

Skills, street sense, self-confidence and networking will make it happen.

I went from an average CGPA from my undergrad to a perfect CGPA in my masters program and I got to understand premise and it’s valid. a high CGPA highlights the possession of the said attributes which is an indication to an employer of the likelihood of success on the job.

The worst thing about CGPA is that if you graduate with 3.3 and someone with 2.5 CGPA will still be classify as same second class lower degree.

Whether or not you have a high CGPA, learn a high income skill
There's too many uncertainties in this country. Don't put all your eggs in the "CGPA basket".

My uncle once said, your life depends on your academic performance while your academic depends on your CGPA,
My head is ringing on how to explain to him that our neighbor was a third class degree holder and he’s the richest person in our street.
