Edo 2020: We’ll send Gov Wike to isolation centre – APC boast ahead of guber election

As the countdown to the 2020 gubernatorial election in Edo state continues to gather momentum, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has fired the first salvo to their major opponents the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by boasting that it will put their Campaign Committe Chairman, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state, out of circulation before the D-Day.

In a viral video online, the APC Campaign Committee Chairman and Governor of Kano State Prof Umar Ganduje asked the people to reject the PDP candidate Governor Godwin Obaseki who had defected to the PDP following an intractable crisis in the ruling party.

In the video, Ganduje said: “We know PDP made Wike their chairman. I assure you we’ll isolate Wike in an isolation centre and before he recovers, the election will be over. The PDP decided to accomodate our former governor in Edo state not because of anything in common, not because of any ideological feelings but simply because he’s managing the treasury of Edo state and they want him to use the treasury to win the election but I assure you the people of Edo state are watching. They know that the person was assisted in 2016 to win an election, somebody who was given every cooperation to succeed in wgovernance of Edo state without doing much for the people but at the end of it he’s taken the treasury and handed it over to PDP in order to win the election. The people of Edo state will not accept this treachery. The people of Edo state, on the 16th of September, will come out enmasse and vote APC 100 percent I assure you.

The election is expected to be a repeat of the 2016 battle between Obaseki and Pastor Ize-Iyamu of the APC. On that occasion, Obaseki contested and won on the platform of the APC while Iyamu was the PDP candidate.
