Desmond Elliot has come under severe and fierce criticism on social media app, Twitter for his comments on the #EndSARS protest and the recent turn of events in Lagos.
The Lawmaker who represents Surulere constituency believes that the use of social media especially by celebrities played a huge role in the recent violence that took place in Lagos after the #EndSARS protest.
He lamented that a lot of young people used social media to abuse political leaders during the #EndSARS protest.
He also insinuated that celebrities and other popular figures are fueling hatred in society via the use of social media.

Surulere people, can we vote out the actor, Desmond Elliot in the next elections? He's been an utter failure. I understand he doesn't even believe in Nigeria & has moved his family to Canada! Why should such a person continue representing us in Surulere? Yes, we can @OmoKakafiala

First they deny the Genocide, then Fashola finds a Mystery Camera & now Desmond Elliot has proposed a Bill that will regulate Social Media Posts so they can arrest anyone that posts about the Lekki Massacre. They will go any length to silence us, this is 2020 not 1920

Despite how smart and intelligent Desmond Elliot sound in his movies, I would’ve never believed he’ll act and speak like an idiot when he becomes a politician. Sigh
