Enugu Rangers Keep Title Hope Intact After Goalless Draw At Sporting Lagos 2

Enugu Rangers are getting closer to winning the 2023/2024 Premier title with just a few matches to the end of the season.

The Flying Antelopes kept their dream of winning the league intact after they picked up a vital point away at Sporting Lagos on Sunday.

The Fidelis Ilechukwu-led team played out a quite entertaining goalless draw at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena as they held on to top spot on the log.

Although Enugu Rangers won a point, they started the match with the intention to win three from the blast of the first whistle.

Christian Nwoke was forced to make two great saves in the first thirty minutes as Sporting Lagos struggled to settle into the match.

Sporting Lagos started the second half quite well unlike the first. Junior Lokosa got into action immediately as he was brought on to replace Jonathan Alukwu.

Lokosa found himself in a yard of space in the box and released a ferocious strike which was parried away by the Rangers’ goalie.

Both sides created chances but struggled to put the ball into the back of the net as the match ended in a stalemate.

Enugu Rangers maintained their top position on the log despite dropping two points. The Flying Antelopes have 61 points with four matches to go.

Sporting Lagos on the other hand on the edge of the cliff. The Lagos side are 16th on the league table with 42 points.

Abdullahi Biffo’s side faces a difficult task as they look to survive relegation with four matches before the season ends.

Sporting Lagos will play Enyimba, Plateau United, Bayelsa United (a relegation battle) and Shooting Stars in their last four games of the season.
