Gbaeren Aduu, a fifty year old farmer alongside his friend, Mr Apollos Jiki of Achia, Ikurav- ya, Kwande LGA of Benue State, have been ordered to be remanded by a Chief Magistrate Court in the State for raping a middle-aged woman.
On the 1st of July, the victim, one Mrs Jugu of Federal Medical Centre, Apir- Makurdi, on July 1, 2020, reported to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Makurdi that the incident happened sometimes on the 20th of May while she went for medical attention in the house of one Apollos Jiki of Achia, Ikurav- ya, Kwande LGA of Benue State, the Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Kuegh Abugh, told the magistrate court.
Sergeant Kuegh Abugh said;
“On June 20, 2020 around 9pm, Apollos Jiki conspired with Gbaeren Aduu and entered her room, held her and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.”
“During police investigation, the said Gbaeren Aduu was arrested for committing the crime, contrary to sections 97 and 284 of the Penal Code Law of Benue State, 2004,”
He also informed the court that the second suspect, Jiki is still on the run while Gbaeren remains in police custody on the order of the magistrate, Mrs Mercy Igbadu.
The case has been adjourned till September 17th for further hearing.
