Ferne McCann has revealed it was ‘therapeutic’ to cover Lorri Haines’ ‘white power’ scandal on her reality show, First Time Mum, in scenes where he broke down in tears and visibly shook while apologising profusely.

The former TOWIE star, 31, was left blindsided when a video of her boyfriend, 31, allegedly taking drugs was shared online whilst they were filming the ITVBe programme in the Maldives with her daughter Sunday, four.

In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, she has now confessed using the series as a platform to document the incident was ‘tough’ yet essential to her healing process.

Viewers watched in shock as the businessman expressed his guilt and said he felt like a ‘burden’ through tears.

Having put the episode behind them, she said: ‘I’m a very open book and I’m an honest person. I wear my heart on my sleeve with everything from relationships to what happens in my life to parenting.

‘I just feel that when something happens in my life and it’s out there in the press, just to be open about it and talk about it and use the show as a platform to do that was… sometimes it’s not easy but sometimes it felt therapeutic.

‘But it was really tough when Laurie’s past ended up in the press and managing and dealing with that whilst filming a TV show.’ 

Speaking candidly, she vowed not to judge her man on his ‘colourful’ past, adding that she will only take people ‘at face value in the present moment’.

Ferne continued: ‘Laurie has done so much work and I know the man that he is today, moving forward, and I know the kind of person he is.

‘I just can’t judge the past videos and the person in those videos, I can only judge the person I know today.’

The former I’m A Celebrity campmate, who has made it no secret that she wants to marry Lorri, declared him ‘The One’ and said she ‘wants a ring on the finger soon’.

She said: ‘It’s not subtle at all, I would love to get engaged before my 32nd birthday but I’ve got to give him the chance. We’ve only been together for… we’re nearly coming up to the five month mark.

‘Hopefully there will be a ring on the finger soon.’

In the eighth series of First Time Mum, the influencer – who said she wants to be engaged by the time she turns 32 – confronted her boyfriend in the second episode.

Lorri said: ‘I just feel so guilty and that I’m a burden to you. How have I done this to you? You don’t deserve this. I feel so guilty and I want to apologise to you.

‘I feel like I’ve let you down. I’ve lost everything. I’ve come so far in my life to be a better person. I’ve done extensive amounts of therapy so to bring this to your doorstep is a punch in the face.’

Ferne first went public with the real estate agent back in January as she gushed how much she loved him.
