After months of back and forth between the Emir of Kano: Mallam Mohammed Sanusi II and the Governor of Kano State; Abdullahi Ganduje, the Executive council of the state, headed by the Governor has approved the removal/dethronement of the Mohammed Sanusi II as the Emir of the Kano Emirate.
The dethronement of the Emir was confirmed in a press release signed by the Secretary to the State Government: Alhaji Usman Alhaji a few minutes ago at the time of this publication.

One will also recall that 57 years ago, the father of Mohammed Sanusi II was also dethroned by Sir Ahmadu Bello as a result of the power tussle between the duo.
