Nigeria National League (NNL) side Gombe United have announced the death of their goalkeeper Ismaila Shagari.
The goalkeeper who was with them in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has passed away.
According to the club, Shagari passed away as the could not recover from persistent illness.
A statement by the club confirms that Shagari was at the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe recieving treatment for the illness before he passed away.
Here is the statement from the social media account of the Savannah Scorpions,
“We are saddened to announce the death of our goalkeeper #IsmailaShagari . He died yesterday at the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe after a prolonged illness.
He had a stint with Akwa United,Taraba Utd , Adamawa Utd, Plateau Utd and Kwara Utd.
Our condolences to his family.”
