French Open 2021: Is Serena Williams time over at top as she gets knocked out by 21-year-old Elena Rybakina? 2

Tennis legend, Serena Williams will have to wait till the Wimbledon Open to win that elusive 24th grand slam as he bids farewell to the French Open in a rather disappointing fashion.

Serena Williams became the latest top 10 seed to be knocked out of the French Open as she lost in straight sets  6-3 7-5 to 21-year-old prodigy Elena Rybakina.

On a day her contemporary, Rodger Federer pulled out of the competition to nurse his body despite qualifying for the fourth round, Serena Williams was second-best on the night.

The American is yet to win a grand slam since her triumph at the Australian Open in 2017.

Although she is no doubt regarded as one of the greatest in the sport already but equalling or breaking Magaret Court’s record of 24 grand slams remains one hurdle critics believe she has to cross.

Her next opportunity to match Margaret Court’s record of 24 Grand Slam singles titles comes at Wimbledon from 28 June.
