Former Bachelorette star Georgia Love has reflected on her recent scandals over the past few months and how she’s gotten through them all with the help of husband Lee Elliott.

Speaking to Yahoo! Lifestyle this week, Georgia said she actively tries not to listen to the ‘negativity of the internet’ and said she’s ‘so lucky’ to have plumber Lee by her side.

The 33-year-old also touched on the sad death of her mother Belinda from pancreatic cancer in 2016, and revealed the advice her late mum would have given her to get her through such difficult times.

‘It’s so easy to get bogged down in the negativity of the internet, let alone after the two years we’ve had with Covid,’ Georgia said.

‘There’s just so much anger and grief around and I think the most important thing we can do is to make sure we’re leaning on those people around us. I know my mum definitely would always continue to give me that advice.’

She said she tries not to let the negative comments from trolls get her down.

It comes after Georgia broke her silence last month after a string of online scandals left her facing backlash from fans and detractors alike.

Speaking to Stellar magazine, Georgia said she has struggled with the onslaught of criticism.

‘I wasn’t good for quite a while and have been dealing with that ever since,’ she told the publication.

The former reality star went on to say that in today’s cancel culture full of ‘angry and unforgiving’ people no one is safe, and she has called for more empathy.

‘People seem to have lost their empathy and understanding of people being humans. Everyone expects everyone to do everything right all the time,’ she said.

‘If we have a world where nobody is making any mistakes, then show me behind the curtain… because that’s just not possible.’

Georgia added that people like her, ‘should be able to say sorry, show they are sorry, and move on. The way the world is at the moment isn’t allowing that to happen.’

She and her husband Lee Elliott had to delete all their holiday photos from their Saudi Arabia trip after backlash from fans for promoting the region.

Critics quickly piled on the former Channel Seven reporter.

Entertainment journalist Peter Ford tweeted a link to a news article revealing Saudi Arabia recently ‘executed 81 convicts in a single day’.

Ford added: ‘This is the country Georgia Love accepted a free trip to visit. Of the 81 you can be sure there is a disproportionate number of women, gays & possibly journalists. Did you really need a freebie trip that badly Georgia?’

Lee later defended their trip and said the he and Georgia were ‘not being paid’ to visit and don’t in any way endorse ‘behaviours of the past or human rights violations that have occurred in this country’.

Meanwhile, Seven previously yanked the reality TV star off the air and moved her to a behind-the-scenes role after she received backlash for a ‘racist’ Instagram post.

The journalist had sparked backlash for sharing footage of a cat behind the window of an Asian restaurant and writing: ‘Shop attendant or lunch?!’

She deleted the video an hour later and apologised for causing ‘offence’, but at the time denied the post had any racist ‘insinuation’.
