A man has been arrested after police stormed a Sydney unit following reports of a domestic violence incident – as an officer was rushed to hospital with stab wounds.
Police allege a 38-year-old man armed with two knives attacked a probationary constable, 26, after officers were called to Punt Road, Gladesville in the city’s north-west about 11.20am on Tuesday morning.
The injured officer suffered lacerations to the back of his head and a dislocated shoulder.

There was a heavy police presence in the north-west Sydney street during the siege, including a dog squad and armed tactical officers
Police negotiators were then called in and took a man into custody about 12.30pm.
He has been taken to Ryde Police Station where he is assisting police with inquiries.
The officer was rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.
Channel Seven footage showed the injured officer being lifted into an ambulance by paramedics while clutching the back of his head.
A man was then filmed being led out of a unit with his shirt torn and into a waiting police van.

There was a heavy police presence in the north-west Sydney street during the siege, including a dog squad and armed tactical officers.
Traffic diversions were in place on Punt Road and motorists were urged to avoid the area.
Investigations into the incident are continuing.
