Aussie music group RÜFÜS DU SOL win their first Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording for their hit song Alive: ‘It’s been a beautiful journey’

Aussie music trio RÜFÜS DU SOL have won their very first Grammy Award. 

The boys, Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George and James Hunt, took home the coveted award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording for their hit song, Alive, at this year’s ceremony held in Las Vegas on Sunday. 

In their winner’s speech the group, who hail from Sydney, said ‘it’s been a beautiful journey’ getting to where they are today.

‘Being in there and hearing our name was very surreal. It feels so good… I want to cry, but I’m laughing,’ Tyrone said in their acceptance speech.

They beat the likes of James Blake and David Guetta who were also nominated in the same category for a Grammy. 

The boys already have four ARIAs under their belt, last year winning two gongs for Best Group and Best Dance Release for Alive.

However this win was huge, as it was their first award after three nominations. 

They were nominated twice for a Grammy back in 2020. 

Jon George previously told Billboard that after being nominated for a Grammy in the past, they wanted to take a home in future.

'It's not the reason we make music, to get accolades, but it is nice to have recognition and have people identify with the work. It's validating, to be perfectly honest, and something we've dreamed,' he said

The group first formed back in 2010 and are known for hits including You Were Right and Treat You Better.
