Barely twenty-four hours after the death of Senator Buruji Kashamu who according to reports sides of COVID-19 complications, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has slammed the deceased for allegedly using his influence to avoid trial despite corruption allegation against him.
In his condolence letter to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Obasanjo alleged that Buruji Kashamu used the “manoeuvre of law and politics to escape facing trial on alleged criminal office in Nigeria and outside Nigeria.”
Buruji Kashamu, Senator, gubernatorial candidate and alleged drug baron, is dead!
In a subtle and less offensive manner, the former head of state lampooned the former Senator who was alleged to be involved in drugs trafficking, by saying no political, cultural or medical manoeuvre could stop the cold hands of death from grabbing him.
However, he prayed that his soul rests in peace in his closing remarks!

Obasanjo’s letter as expected triggered reactions on social media 👇
Nigerian politicians forget that death is inevitable and could visit those you least expect anytime. I like fact that Obasanjo refused to be emotionally blackmailed into feeling pity for the dead. That said, OBJ will die someday too and his own books will be opened.

Obasanjo is not calling himself saint either… he's only remembering evil doers to remember they can escape the judgement of death in which himself is not excluded.

There is a time that one should sheath his/her sword no matter what is the level of animosity. That Obasanjo's condolence letter to the family of @BurujiKashamu is a low even for Obasanjo's low standard.

President Olusegun Obasanjo. So blunt for his era, age, status & ethnicity. Hate him, love him, he remains Olusegun Obasanjo. He says it as he sees it! He also remains the president that paid off our foreign debt in totality & gave us a new beginning. History will be kind to him.

What Chief Olusegun Obasanjo said about Buruji Kashamu is absolutely the truth and it's same for most corrupt Nigerian politicians.
Many of them used and maneuver of law and politics to escape from facing justice on alleged criminal offences, but they would not escape death.

Even when his foes die, it appears Obasanjo doesn’t forgive.
