Y'all trying to excuse Mary are not honest with yourselves.
AdvertisementShe was rude, end of discussion.
She could have easily said "good evening, who is this please?" It doesn't cost anyone anything to be a little polite.

I'm sorry but there's no way I'm employing this character. She will bring that attitude into the team and ruin stuff.

HR practitioners in Nigeria need to unlearn this stupid God complex… your initial message should have a proper introduction of who you are and why you’re reaching out… she reacted wrongly but the HR dude needs some retraining as well.

Please let's learn from this.
1. Emmanuel is supposed to introduce himself first, that way Mary would know who the stranger is earlier.Advertisement2. Mary actually need to always be calm especially when interacting with a stranger whose mission you don't know yet.

Many still make this mistake. I learned this thing when i worked in call center at my first job. Be polite untill you can really tell who the person at the other end is.

"Hello, good evening mary" From a strange number?
Me mah go fear but I won't talk like this.
Courtesy demands that you introduce yourself and state the aim behind the message when it's official.

Lol a lot of people being hypocritical here. It's easy to defend mediocrity till ur happens to you.

The few people here defending Mary’s attitude soberly see themselves in Mary’s reflection. They share same traits of bad attitude and character, hence the reason why they are defending her bad disposition. It’s sad to see

Emmanuel didn't open the conversation completely well. Mary was…. Well.. Impatient.
AdvertisementTypically, when I get unexpected prompts like Emmanuel's, I ignore and wait for the concluding part before responding: "Emmanuel from XYZ as regards ABC…"
Eeyah.

Who uses whatsapp for something work related? What happened to " Hello Mary good evening, I'm Sam and I'm texting you about your internship opportunity" ? Go straight to the point, her reaction is normal

Even in letter writing, you write salutations first and then write body of the letter.
Notice how it took the guy 3minutes to type the introduction.
Probably dude was still composing introduction when Mary dropped rapid fire on him.— f. L. 😎 (@imfLoReen) November 27, 2020

I detest the use of abbreviations in conversations and I tell my friends about it, whether responding to known or unknown numbers , be civil in your writing. I am not going to hire anyone who uses ‘hw r u’?

Any unsaved number that either calls or chats me up, I'd always respond formally till I deduce who's calling.— George Ikwegbu Chinedu 💙 (@GIkwegbu) November 26, 2020
So everyone is just going to relief mary of her responsibility in this issue and pour hot coal on the man. Let’s be objective, Mary was rude. Emmanuel may not have introduced himself at first but she was totally uncouth.

Those of you insinuating that he should have put is greeting and introduction in one text .. have you considered that everyone’s way of texting is different ..
Some people prefer putting all text in one message some of us expect a gradual back to back feedback— Soji (@bigsurge__) November 27, 2020

Everything went south when she typed "wat nonsense". He even said " hear me out". Yes, strangers send messages like this but we should give avenue for them to speak and later choose to ignore or reply back. Good mood or bad mood, no excuses. It is well.

She apologized and yet because the gentleman’s ego is bruised he’s refusing to give her a chance. Whatever happened to sending an official email or a phone call at an appropriate time?
— Naa Baby ♥️😌 (@NaaDodua4) November 27, 2020
Regardless of what you think, Emmanuel was in no way wrong in this conversation tbh
AdvertisementMan said “Calm down please, hear me out”
She said “Wat nonesense..“
She lacks courtesy and there’s no two way to that!.. Such arrogance from someone who still types “Who” as “hu”, fine as “5n”.

Absolutely well deserved IMO..
Hopefully she's learnt her lesson.
No one wants this sort of foul attitude at their work.
A bloody applicant intern with this attitude needs to be taught that the world doesn't revolve around her. What happened to basic courtesy and decency…— Ban Zini (@opeyemibanzini) November 27, 2020
