No less than 20 Nigerian soldiers were killed by a Nigerian Airforce jet after it mistook them for Boko Haram fighters in Mainok, Borno State on Sunday.

The Soldiers were reinforced from Ngandu village were on their way to Mainok in Kaga Local Government Area which was under attack by the insurgents.

However, the reinforcement team were bombed by a Nigerian Airforce jet in the town according to aĀ  military source. The fighter jet was said to have mistaken them for Boko Haram elements as both hadĀ  similar military uniforms and vehicles.

“The Boko Haram terrorists disguised in military uniform and gained access to the camp. They came in different groups and could not be counted. The Nigerian Army were pinned down, they requested for reinforcement, the reinforcement got on their way only to get smoked by the Nigerian Airforce.”
