Humanitarian Affairs Minister, Sadiya Farouq says FG will use BVN to identify poor, vulnerable Nigerians (video)
Sadiya Farouq the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management & Social Development has said the Federal Republic of Nigeria will use the Bank Verification Number (BVN) to identify citizens who are poor and vulnerable.
Farooq revealed the use of the BVN and phone records to help provide a palliative for the poor and vulnerable in this time of the Coronavirus outbreak.
She said, “We are using other models including BVN to identify bank accounts. We are also using mobile phone networks to identify poor and vulnerable people in the society. This is going to be faster, transparent and give room for more accountability.”
