The Ekiti State Government has announced plans to purchase drones worth N550 million naira in a bid to checkmate criminal activities in the state such as armed banditry, kidnapping, and robbery among others.
This latest development was made public by the Commisioner for Budget and Economic Planning during the analysis of the 2021 Appropriation bill with a budgetary provision of N109.666 billion.
He said the Ekiti State government has already set aside the amount to purchase top quality drones which will help to improve the security situation in the state as well combating nefarious activities.
A sum of N8 billion naira has also been out in place for social services in the state which will cover areas such education, gender empowerment, social security, health and other sectors in the state.
He also added that the Ekiti State Government has also made provision for N1.4 billion to finance the state chapter of the Southwest Security Network, ” Amotekun.”
