Governor Samuel Ortom told residents of the state to get a license to carry dane guns from their local governments to protect themselves.
The Governor gave this charge at interdenominational church service this evening at the Chapel of Grace in Government House, Makurdi on Sunday evening.
“I’ll no longer announce the deaths of those killed by Fulani herdsmen, rise up and defend yourselves with weapons not prohibited by law, bows and arrows, spears and knives. Get a license for dane guns from local government Chairmen and use them to defend yourselves,”
He also added that God assures him of safety as long as he remains in his presence.
“God assured me some time back that as long as I lived within the circle of his presence, no weapon fashioned against me shall prosper”
While speaking at the sermon, Rev Akpen Leva, State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) assured Governor Samuel Ortom of the church’s support in protecting the people while thanking him for his efforts on the security of the residents of the state.
He also commended the Southwest Governors for banning open grazing in the state and he assured the Governor that the church is praying for an end to all forms of social vices in the state.
