It is unfair to label “Osun” Devotees as Idol Worshippers – Ooni of Ife declares!
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II as cautioned people especially those not practicing the worship of the river goddess, Osun not to clear its devotees idol Worshippers.
The Mornach made this remark when he received devotees at his palace in Ile-Ife after the ancient city celebrated the annual festival.
He also said that, the festival is celebration of nature in which water is integral part.
In his words;
“We’re using this instance to reconnect with our Creator through nature to cleanse the world, and especially to end the pandemic. We are remembering our ancestors and it is unfair to call us idol worshipers”
Ooni of Ife also pointed out that the festival was done in accordance to the NCDC directives due to COVID-19 Pandemic.
