A Tribunal on Bayelsa State Governorship Election setting in Abuja has sacked the Governor Duoye Diri of the People’s Democratic Party following a petition by the Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party.
The party argued that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) illegally excluded it from participating in the Gubernatorial Elections of Movember 2019.
The ruling was delivered by Justice Yunusa Musa citing that the Independent National Electoral Commission unlawfully omitted the party from contesting in the Bayelsa State Governorship election last year.
Consequently, the tribunal has ordered a fresh election to be conducted within 90 days.
The Supreme Court had earliedeclaredre Duoye Diri the winner of the November election last year after David Lyon was sacked 24 hours to his inauguration on based on forgery of certificate by his then running mate – Degi Eremienyo.
