Kano Hisbah bans the use of Mannequins by Tailors, Others 2

In a bid to preserve the tenets of Islam, Hisbah, the religious police in Kano have placed a ban on the use of mannequins by fashion designers, tailors, boutiques among others in the state.

Kano State Hisbah commander, Sheikh Aroun ibn Sina says the use of mannequins used in displaying clothes contravenes the provisions of Islam in a statement made available on Wednesday.

He was quoted by The Tribune as saying;

“Hisbah prohibits the use of mannequins at shops, commercial and private residences, and other public places.”

“This violates Islamic provisions. It is also responsible for immoral thoughts among some members of the public, all these are against Islam”

He added that five areas in the state have been mapped out for the effective implementation of the ban while stating that members of the public will be sensitized on how Islam frowns at the use of dolls.

It was also gathered that those who violate the ban will be arrested and prosecuted as well.
