Under fire: Kim Kardashian has been slammed for ‘promoting unhealthy body standards’ after she admitted to losing 16lbs in just three weeks in order to fit into Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dress for the Met Gala on Monday evening
‘It wasn’t like a starving yourself type of thing’: Kardashian’s trainer DON-A-MATRIX AKA Don ‘DB’ Brooks has insisted that the 41-year-old SKIMS mogul dropped the pounds in a healthy way and that she did not starve herself as he talked to TMZ on Wednesday
The Los Angeles based fitness trainer told TMZ on Wednesday that he did work with Kim in the lead up to fashion’s biggest night and that she put the proper amount of work in for the body transformation as he said: ‘I think one of the misconceptions people have about Kim is she works like really hard, right?
‘So I mean I was there through the process, so it wasn’t like a starving yourself type of thing. I mean she went on a real balanced diet and at times, you know, she wouldn’t eat as much. But then the second thing was she was in the gym and put the work in.’
Riverdale actress Lily Reinhart seemingly called out Kim saying her ”ignorance is other-worldly and disgusting’ in a series of Instagram Stories posted after the Met Gala as she was just one of the people voicing their disgust over the lengths Kim went to just to fit into the iconic dress.
Don was asked if there was anything unhealthy about the reality star’s approach and he replied: ‘No not at all. Not from my end and from what I saw. I mean we were working out sometimes twice a day.’

He was asked if it was possible to lose 16lbs in a healthy way to which he answered: ‘Yeah it is, it is possible to lose 20lbs in a healthy way.’
Lastly he was asked what he would say to the 25-year-old actress who blasted Kim as he replied with a laugh saying: ‘Come down and see The Matrix.’
The day after the Met Gala, Lily took to her Instagram Story to write: ‘To walk a red carpet and do an interview saying how starving you are because you haven’t eaten carbs in the last month … all to fit in a f***ing dress?’
She continued: ‘So wrong. So f***ed on 100’s of levels. To openly admit to starving yourself for the sake of the Met Gala. When you knew very well that millions of young men and women are looking up to you and listening to your every word.’
The latest: Lili Reinhart, 25, said Kim’s ‘ignorance is other-worldly and disgusting’ after the reality star, 41, detailed a strict regimen she underwent to fit into Marilyn Monroe’s gown for Monday’s Met Gala
The Cleveland native said on the social media site: ‘To walk a red carpet and do an interview saying how starving you are because you haven’t eaten carbs in the last month … all to fit in a f***ing dress?’
Reinhart, who plays Betty Cooper on Riverdale, said that ‘the ignorance is other-worldly and disgusting’ in making a plea to her fans in support of body positivity.
‘Please stop supporting these stupid, harmful celebrities whose entire image revolves around their bodies,’ Reinhart said.
The Hustlers actress noted that she is normally calm, but was enraged by the nature of the remarks Kardashian made in her red carpet appearance on Monday.
‘I am generally not an angry person,’ Reinhart said, ‘but I swear to God the toxicity of this industry sometimes really gets to me and I have to do my little Instagram Story rants to release my rage.’

Reinhart has past been outspoken about the issue at hand
Reinhart’s social media statement came after Kardashian revealed the weight loss process she underwent to fit into the gown Monroe wore to President John F. Kennedy’s birthday bash in 1962, where she famously sang Happy Birthday to him.
The star said she cried when she realized she didn’t fit into the iconic dress during a first try-on, but went on to lose weight just so she could model the dress for mere minutes on the NYC red carpet.
Twitter users have also criticized the star for talking openly about her extreme weight loss and her subsequent carb-loading after the gala, with one online critic pointing out that ‘restricting yourself for dramatic weight loss to basically binge afterwards isn’t healthy or worth it.’

On the red carpet, Kim told La La Anthony, who hosted Vogue’s livestream, that when the dress didn’t fit, she was still determined to lose weight to get into it.
‘I had this idea to put it on and to try it on, and they came with armed guards and gloves. I tried it on and it didn’t fit me, and so I looked at them and said give me like three weeks, and I had to lose 16lbs, down today, to be able to fit this,’ she said.
‘It was such a challenge, it was like a role, I was determined to fit it.’
At that point, La La told her: ‘When you put your mind to something there’s no … you were like eating tomatoes’.
Kim later told Vogue she went on a ruthlessly strict diet deadline in order to slim down and wear the dress to the Met, admitting she hadn’t eaten ‘carbs and sugar in three weeks.’

Iconic: Kim transformed into Marilyn Monroe for the Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday; as she arrived in the late star’s $5 million gown she wore in 1962 (right) to wish President John F. Kennedy a happy birthday
She said she thought she would fit into Marilyn’s dress as ‘I always thought she was extremely curvy. I imagined I might be smaller in some places where she was bigger and bigger in places where she was smaller. So when it didn’t fit me I wanted to cry because it can’t be altered at all.’
Speaking about her she lost weight, Kim explained: ‘I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein. I didn’t starve myself, but I was so strict.’
Met Gala observers took to Twitter to slam Kim’s decision to diet for a dress, with one tweeting: ‘the kim kardashian weight loss thing is f**ked up and NOT okay to talk about on national television where the youth will find it and bring it to therapy to defend their eating disorders.’
Another critic posted on Twitter: ‘Kim said she’s been avoiding carbs and as soon as the night is over she’s ordering pizza. Eek, restricting yourself for dramatic weight loss to basically binge afterwards isn’t healthy or worth it. We are all enough as we are.’
‘Kim Kardashian looked beautiful at the Met Gala, but she has promoted unrealistic body standards for YEARS (diet teas, waist trainers, $$$ procedures, etc) and her talking about losing 16 Ibs in 3 weeks to fit into Marilyn’s dress (which no one should get to wear) is appalling,’ agreed another.
Another pointed out Kim’s position of responsibility as a mother of four, writing: ‘North West and my daughter are just days apart in age and I’m struggling to comprehend how Kim K can be at all comfortable sharing her rapid weight loss over the last 3 weeks, t’s irresponsible.’
Kim lost the weight for just a few minutes in the dress, changing into a replica once she had walked the red carpet, to make sure it wasn’t damaged inside the Met Gala party.
Critics: Tweeters have criticised the star for talking openly about her extreme weight loss and her subsequent carb-loading, with one pointing out that ‘restricting yourself for dramatic weight loss to basically binge afterwards isn’t healthy or worth it’
Kim skipped the afterparty scene and was in a hurry to start carb-loading as soon as she had been photographed in the famed garment.
On her way into the fashion benefit, Kim told her pal LaLa Anthony that the plan for the evening was to head straight back to her hotel, the Ritz Carlton in New York City, and have a ‘pizza and donut party’ with her boyfriend Pete Davidson.
Then, just an hour or so later, Kim departed the hotel dressed in black and made her way to the airport to catch a flight back to her home in Los Angeles with Pete, 28, and sister Khloe Kardashian by her side.
And they’re off! Kim gorged on ‘pizza and donuts’ at her hotel with beau Pete Davidson following her crash diet to lose 16lbs to fit into Marilyn Monroe’s original dress for just minutes on red carpet (pictured leaving the hotel for her flight to LA)
Good choice: Kim and co gorged on pizza from NYC hotspot Joe’s Pizza, arguably one of the best slices in the City
Stuffed: Kim said the group had gone back to their hotel to enjoy pizza and donuts, skipping the afterparties
Yum: They also had a station of Doughnuttery making fresh donuts for them, with Kim sharing snaps on Instagram
Hungry for more: Their security was seen carrying donut boxes as they left the hotel
Kim had told LaLa at the event: ‘Afterwards since I haven’t eaten carbs and sugar in like three weeks we’re eating pizza and donut party back at the hotel.’
She also posted snaps of the pizza and donut party on her Instagram Stories.
It had already been rumored that Kim would be wearing the famed outfit, which Marilyn wore when she sang Happy Birthday to President John F. Kennedy in 1962, causing quite the scandal at the time.
Marilyn’s glittering beaded gown was designed by Jean Louis, and has been on display at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum in Orlando, FL, after they bought it from Julien’s Auction for $4.81million.
Diet: Kim told Vogue how she went on a ruthlessly strict diet deadline in order to slim down and wear the dress to the Met, admitting she hadn’t eaten ‘carbs and sugar in three weeks’
‘This is Marilyn Monroe’s dress. It’s sixty years old,’ Kim told LaLa Anthony on the red carpet. ‘I had this idea to put it on and try it on. They came with armed guards and gloves… I was determined to fit into it. I did it. I dyed my hair blonde. .’
Marilyn’s unique hourglass figure an exact measurements have been debated for decades, but one dress maker claimed she 5’5″ tall, with a 35″ bust, 22″ waist, and 35″ hips. Her bra size was said to be 36D.
Kim once said of her own measurements: ‘I am a size 27 jeans… My measurements are 38, 26, 39. But remember I am 5’2″ and 1/2 and everyone carries their weight in different places.’
Kim also explained to Vogue that she had another dress option for the evening, a gown that looked exactly like the one Marilyn wore to the Oscars in 1962, q green sequin ensemble by Norman Norell.
‘I have a replica of the dress she wore to the Oscars in 1962,’ Kim told the outlet. ‘I think I might just wear that one to eat pizza in my hotel room.
Meanwhile, SNL funnyman Pete, 28, looked dapper in a classic black suit, skinny tie, designer shades, and finally ditched the Vans sneakers for a pair of smart shoes.
Marilyn – who died at 36 from a drug overdose in 1962 – is said to have paid $1,440 for the custom piece to the designer, and it holds the record for the for the most expensive dress sold at an auction, making it one of the most expensive dresses in the world.
Wow: Last month, she was photographed leaving Ripley’s Museum in Orlando where the dress is housed, leading fans to believe she was going to wear it
Transformed: Kim visited the museum to try on the dress after losing 16lbs in just three weeks to fit into the gown
Kim is said to have left her hotel on Monday covered up in a dressing gown, and had barricades set up outside of her hotel to make sure no one saw the outfit before her red carpet appearance.
When she got to the Met Gala, there was a secret dressing room set up for her near the steps where a conservationist from Ripley’s met her to help fit the dress, who was wearing special gloves.
Kim even said that she didn’t wear any body makeup, as she usually would do at such an event, in order to preserve the dress.
