On the 22nd of October, 2020, Nigerians tuned sat in front of their TV screens at 7 pm to watch President Muhammadu Buhari’s national address on the back of the #EndSARS protest as well as Lekki Tollgate massacre which happened two days earlier.
Many Nigerians had thought that they will find solace and comfort in the President’s speech but they were hugely disappointed and demoralized as the speech added more salt to their injuries.
In a speech that lasted 13 minutes, Nigerians, home and abroad as well the international media concluded that President Muhammadu Buhari didn’t say anything even though he uttered more than 3,000 words.
The President refused to speak about the Lekki Tollgate massacre or even tender an apology to the families of those that were killed by the military in cold blood.
This is how one of many frustrated Nigerians reacted to President Buhari’s speech š
