Meet DJ Switch, the lady who recorded the Lekki shootings on Instagram Live
The shooting of unarmed protesters at the Kelli Toll Gate in Lagos on Tuesday evening would have gone unseen but for the courage of a musician who goes by the professional name DJ Switch.
On her Instagram page, the songwriter and disc jockey kept up a running commentary of the shootings even as bullets whizzed past her and protesters dropped like flies.
Real name Obianuju Catherine Udeh, DJ Switch is a graduate of Geology from the University of Port Harcourt and the last of eight children born to parents who hailed from Udi in Enugu State.
DJ Switch first came into national prominence when her group, Da Pulse, emerged as the winner of the 2009 edition of reality music competition, Star Quest. They went on to release a hit song tittled, So Tey, and featured American rapper, Busta Rhymes in the remix.
Her solo career however kicked off when she emerged as the winner of the first edition of The Glo X Factor in 2013 at the age of 29.
DJ has a sizeable following on Social Media with 680,000 followers on her djswitch_ Instagram page, about 48,000 on her @Djswitchaholic Twitter account and several fan pages on Facebook.
