One of the Alpha Jets of the Nigerian Airforce deployed in the fight against Boko Haram insurgency has gone missing.
The Alpha Jet, according to reports, lost radar at about 5:08 p.m on the 31st of March while on a mission to support ground troops in Borno State.
Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations of the Nigerian Airforce confirmed the incident in a statement via his Twitter page.
A NAF aircraft on a routine mission in support of its troops at one of the Theatres of Operation in the Northern part of Nigeria has lost radar contact. Efforts are currently ongoing to locate its whereabouts. Details to follow.
