Nigerians not happy as NERC increase electricity tariff
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has increased the electricity tariff.
This was made known on their official Twitter account of the commission.
The statement by the NERC official Twitter account said, “In compliance with the provisions of the EPSR Act and the nation’s tariff methodology for biannual minor review, the rates for service bands A, B, C, D and E have been adjusted by NGN2.00 to NGN4.00 per kWhr to reflect the partial impact of inflation & movement in forex.”

Let's see if Nigerians will adjust to the new 50% electricity tariff hike. 🥳 We are special creation and creatures with no elastic limit, no breaking point.

To certain category , no increase but to another , there is an increase . What is the meaning of increase and adjustment? Yes, I will concede to NERC that they are obeying the law passed in 2015

I was scared when i saw 50% increment in electricity tariff by NERC until i read the communique & realized what they meant was an additional increment between N2 & N4 on current tariff.
AdvertisementThis simply means between N2 to N4 will be added to the cost of electricity/kwh.
It is well!

Apparently, it seems the guys at NERC did a poor job in that communication. It seems what they meant was a new increment between N2 and N4 on current tariff. Means you’ll be charged extra N2 to N4 on units purchase. Regardless, any form of increment in this period is a bad idea!
