Segun Dosumu, a secondary school student, has been sentenced to three weeks in prison with hard labor for threatening to murder one of his teachers.
The 20-year-old student was found guilty of the accusation preferred against him by an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
When the charge was read to him in court, Dosumu, a resident of Iboro in Ogun State, was alleged to have pleaded guilty.
As a result, after analyzing the facts of the case placed before him by the Prosecutor, ASP Wale Diyaolu, the Magistrate, Mr S. S. Sotayo, found Dosumu guilty, but with the option of a N200,000 fine.
Despite Dosumu’s admission of guilt, the Magisterate claimed that all the evidence presented to the court proved beyond a reasonable doubt that he was guilty of the crime charged.
The prosecution, Diyaolu, had previously informed the court that the convict committed the crime on Tuesday at Eyinni Comprehensive High School in Ogun State’s Iboro Yewa North Local Government Area.
The SSS3 student, according to Diyaolu, threatened to kill or injure the instructor, Mr Ismail Fadeyi, with a shattered bottle.
The offense, according to Diyaolu, was in violation of Section 86 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
