Former Vice Presidential aspirant and General Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Lagos has given his opinion as regards reports which suggest that Vice President Yemi Osinajo is being sidelined.
Pastor Tunde Bakare says Yemi Osinbajo should vacate his office if it is the case that he his not allowed to perform his duties as the Vice President as stated in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Although Pastor Tunde Bakare says he is only taking the report with a pinch of salt and he will like Yemi Osinbajo to give clarity on whether he is allowed to perform his duties or not.
He went ahead to say that he will be surprised to see the Vice President remain in the Presidency if it is true that he is not getting duties to carry out from the President followed by PUNCH News
Pastor Tunde Bakare said this during an Instagram live chat with seasoned journalist, Dele Momodu
I do not know if that statement is true that he is not allowed to perform because the constitution is very clear on what the role of the vice-president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is, especially as it relates to steering the economy of the nation.
Before I accepted General Muhammadu Buhari’s offer, I said what would be my role because I am not prepared to be a spare tyre and he said to me that my role will be as prescribed by the constitution and as many other things as you can be given to do.
“I want to hear it one day from the vice-president that he is not allowed to perform. I don’t like rumour and I don’t like gossip. If he is not allowed to perform, I would wonder what he is still doing there because he is not allowed to perform.
There is constitutional role for the vice-president, it is spelt out in black and white. If he is not allowed to do that, then, what is he doing there? Because if I am enrolled as a teacher and I am not allowed to teach in that school, I will look for another school.
One would recall that the last time the Yemi Osibajo acted fully in place of the President was in 2018 when his principal went on leave to the United Kingdom.
The sacking of former DSS boss, Lawal Daura by Yemi Osinbajo during that period didn’t please the President according to sources close to the Presidency.
