A nurse at a children’s hospital has been jailed for more than three years for masturbating to passing school students and possessing more than 60 videos of kids being sexually abused.
Peter James De Mouilpied, 50, pleaded guilty last week to 14 charges relating to the possession and production of child exploitation videos and indecent dealing.
De Mouilpied, who had been working as a theatre nurse at Perth Children’s Hospital, was arrested after repeated complaints from girls who attend the school opposite his home that he would masturbate out his window as they walked past.

The 50-year-old became the focus of a police investigation after five reports were made in eight days in August last year over him performing sex acts on himself with the blinds open as schoolgirls walked past, The West Australian reported.
A plumber had attended his home asking him to stop, he promised he would, but he repeated the behaviour the next day. Police attended soon after.
Officers then discovered 62 videos on his phone showing the 50-year-old masturbating to child exploitation material he had accessed online.
The nurse would speak to children via an internet chat website, encouraging them to engage in sex acts on themselves or for them to watch him perform sex acts on himself through a two-way camera.
The Supreme Court of Western Australia heard some of the children from De Mouilpied’s material were too young to understand what he was asking them to do, but had an adult present who the nurse would give instructions to.
The most serious offence he plead guilty to involved him recording himself masturbating as a four-year-old girl was sexually abused.
Judge Carmel Barbagallo described the footage as ‘disgusting, degrading and at times physically harmfull’.

‘This kind of demand encourages the exploitation, humiliation and corruption of these young children, and the adverse impact it can have on them is incalculable.
De Mouilpied’s psychologist told the court he had grown sexually excited with the ‘growing risk’ of being caught as he masturbated to the passing schoolgirls.
She said the behaviour had been the result of ‘stressful work shifts’ and because he was ‘bored and unoccupied’.
The judge also noted the nurse had been left ‘mentally unhealthy’ after his marriage of 16 years ended because his wife was having an affair, and is also seeking treatment for depression, a result of being exposed to ‘traumatic events’ from working as a nurse.

Judge Barbagallo sentenced De Mouilpied to three years and five months in prison for one count of producing child exploitation material, one count of possession of child exploitation material, 10 counts of indecent dealing and two counts of doing an indecent act.
He also instituted three life violence restraining orders that prevent him from contacting three victims or coming within 50metres of them.
He also ordered the destruction of the nurse’s phone.
De Mouilpied will be eligible for parole in 20 months and is suspended from working as a nurse anywhere in Australia.
