Pop singer Maeta was bitten on her chin by a snake during a music video shoot.

The 21-year-old performer shared a clip of the attack to her Instagram account on Sunday, in which she was seen laying down while being surrounded by several reptiles.

The singer was then seen recoiling in pain after one of the snakes bit her on the chin, and one of her friends commented: ‘It bit you like that!’

Maeta also wrote a short message in her post’s caption that read: ‘what I go through to make videos for y’all.’ 

Neither of the snakes that were seen in the video were venomous and the singer did not receive any serious injuries other than the bite.

The performer, who originally hails from Indianapolis, began uploading tracks to her SoundCloud account two years ago.

She went on to collaborate with performers such as Kaytranada and Skrillex over the past few years.

Maeta eventually released her newest EP, entitled Habits, earlier this year, and its lead single Teen Scene (feat. Buddy), currently has 7,075,360 listens on Spotify.

The singer went on to sign with Jay-Z’s entertainment company Roc Nation.

The performer previously spoke about the effects that the onset of the global pandemic had on her work during an interview with Schon Magazine. 

‘I think it hindered [my creativity]…I feel most inspired when I’m around people so having to isolate was really hard. But I think it stripped me from distractions forcing me to be alone with myself. I found inspiration from that,’ she said.

Maeta also spoke about the inspiration for her work during the interview and noted that her emotional state greatly affected her creative output. 

‘I fall in love so easily and that can often get the best of me which always ends up falling into a song. Everything I sing about on my project I went through,’ she said.

The singer concluded the interview by speaking about what she wanted most out of 2021. 

She said: ‘I hope to just live in the moment! One thing I’m working on is letting go and letting life take me where it does without feeling like I need to control every detail. I think it’s more enjoyable that way!’
