Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City: Jen Shah tearfully shares bizarre story about arrest with lawyer

Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City: Jen Shah tearfully shares bizarre story about arrest with lawyer 2

Jen Shah tearfully told her lawyer details about the bizarre circumstances of her arrest on Sunday’s episode of The Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City on Bravo.

The 48-year-old reality star described how she got a phone call when she was on the bus with the other housewives ready to go to Vail. She said the number showed up as her husband’s phone number, but that voice on the phone was not his.

Jen said the voice told her that she needed to go home and get her son Omar and then meet Sharrieff at the University of Utah hospital.

‘I immediately went to ”Oh my God is Sharrieff okay”,’ Jen said. ‘This is an emergency.’

Jen told her lawyer Clayton Simms in his law office about how she was then pulled over. Jen said she didn’t know then what was going on and was just wondering at the time whether her husband and kids were okay.

‘I literally didn’t know what was going on. I feel like I’m still, like, in shock, kind of in a fog,’ Jen told her lawyer.

Jen was arrested along with her assistant Stuart Smith, 43, and charged with running an alleged telemarketing conspiracy fraud scheme, according to the US Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of New York. Both have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Clayton told Jen that they were at the very beginning of the case and that she had been charged with wire fraud and money laundering. He told her that she pleaded not guilty to both charges and that the case had been set for trial.

Her lawyer said he would work on getting discovery including police reports and surveillance that would give him a better idea of the case.

‘We know you’re innocent,’ Clayton said.

‘Right,’ said Jen, who also declared her innocence in a confessional.

‘What I have been accused of is absolutely the complete opposite of anything I would ever do in my life. If I have any fault, it is because I am too giving, and I help too many people.’

In Clayton’s office, Jen asked him if she had to do any paperwork that day. He said he was waiting for the clerk to send him a $1,000,000 on recognizance bond. He said then during the next two weeks they would work on securing the $250,000 property bond.

‘It’s still like the whole experience is just surreal,’ said Jen. ‘ I’m thinking Sharrieff is just sick, I’m going home.’

‘I didn’t grow up with a lot,’ she said as she started to cry. ‘I worked so hard to get where I am and to have this happen. I tried to help so many people along the way. I don’t understand.’

Jen said that the worst part was ‘I could take whatever, but to have it affect my husband and my son is killing me.’

‘I don’t want them to hurt,’ Jen told Clayton.

The subject of Jen’s arrest was also on the minds of Lisa Barlow, 46, and some of the other housewives who discussed it during their Vail get-a-way.

‘I just feel so deceived,’ said Lisa as she started crying. ‘I just don’t think she is who we think she is.’

‘I don’t know who she is. I have no idea who she is. She is a completely different person than I think,’ she added.

The other housewives tried to piece together what they knew about Jen.

Heather Gay, 47, brought up to them about how she called Jen an Uber the other night and thought it was weird that Jen got out a half a mile later.

In a confessional, Heather admitted that she didn’t think that much of Jen ditching her Uber at the time, but that Lisa was insinuating that she knew more, which was frustrating.

Jennie Nguyen, 45, also urged Lisa that if she knew anything more about Jen that she should tell them.

‘I feel she has a double life,’ Lisa said.

Lisa shared with the women that she had gotten some weird text messages that she believed were from Jen. Heather and Whitney said they had also gotten similar messages.

In a confessional, Lisa said that last year after their heated Vegas trip that she got this weird disturbing text that said ‘Receipts coming in. RACISM is real You can’t hide bcuz you are friends think that your better than everyon it’s all coming out.’

Lisa said the fact that ‘because’ was spelled as ‘bcuz’ made her believe that the text was from Jen because she uses the same abbreviation.

Meredith Marks, 49, also shared that she hired a private investigator when her son was threatened who told her the texts she received were likely from Jen. Meredith then asked who wanted to be friends with Jen moving forward. Jennie told them that she liked Jen when she first met her and that they bonded because they were both minorities.

Jennie said in a confessional that the situation made her very uncomfortable and that she felt like they were bashing Jen behind her back without the facts.

Heather said Jen was a friend and that she would help her.

‘I think the only true value of friendship is when you are down,’ Heather said.

Heather was asked if she’d visit Jen in prison.

‘I would absolutely visit her in prison,’ Heather said. ‘There are things about her that I love and I am going to show up.’

‘Can we talk about the hundred of lives that she has ruined through her actions and I’m supposed to feel bad for her,’ said Meredith Marks.

”I’m with her,” Lisa said.

Meredith said she was not friends with Jen and noted there has to be trust to be friends.

‘I gave her chances,’ said Meredith. ‘She has continually abused me and slapped me in the face.’

Common ground: ''I'm with her,'' Lisa said as she took sides with Meredith

Heather said if Jen was ever going to change that now would be the most pivotal time because she was stripped of everything that defined her.

‘I’ve never seen potential in Jen,’ said Mary Cosby. ‘I’ve never seen good in Jen. Oh, I’m going there. I always knew there was some kind of scandal. I felt it.’

Whitney said that Jen owed it to every single one of them to tell ‘us the truth about what she has been up to.’

Mary told Heather to call her up, but the call went straight to voicemail. Meredith told everyone that her relationship with Jen was finished.

‘If in fact she repeatedly defrauded the elderly, I am utterly revolted,’ said Meredith in a confessional. ‘That’s it.’

Meredith told the other women that she didn’t want Jen in her presence, in her store or around her family.

‘If you want to invite Jen, do not invite me,’ said Meredith.

The next morning, Jennie called her husband Duy and told him about the heated conversation she had the previous night with the other women about Jen.

Lisa and Meredith sat outside and talked about what they had heard about Mary. Lisa said Cameron shared with her that he had a close relationship with Mary. She also said that everyone in her church looked up to her and were in awe of her.

Meredith asked why she didn’t share this information about Mary sooner. Meredith said she wanted to have a conversation with Mary and let her know that these cryptic conversations about her were going on. Lisa said she still wanted to keep Mary’s former preacher Cameron’s confidence.

Heather, Jennie and Whitney then went dog sledding. Whitney steered one of the sleds and said later to the camera that ‘these dogs are a lot easier to control than the b****es back home.’

Lisa, Mary and Meredith went shopping and ice skating. Meredith and Mary were unsure on their skates, but Lisa could skate backwards.

On the bus back to the house, Heather, Jennie and Whitney talked about Lisa’s reaction to Jen’s arrest. Heather said it seemed like it was ‘the Lisa Barlow show’ and that everything was about how it affected her.

Jennie said Lisa knows certain things but wants to be 100 percent sure before she speaks.

When Heather, Whitney and Jennie returned to the vacation house, there was a beautiful lunch spread waiting for them. Heather shared with them that her younger sister lived in Colorado and that she hoped she would come up and visit with them. She said that she hadn’t had the closest relationship with her ‘for decades.’

Heather told them that her sister was estranged from the family because she got married to a man out of high school that wasn’t Mormon.

‘Our life was so centered around our faith that she just got excluded,’ said Heather.

Heather said in a confessional that since she was no longer playing the role of a ‘super Mormon,’ that she was seeing the blinders she had on all those years.

‘I feel horrible,’ she said.

Heather told the women she had a lot to make up to her sister. She told them she was excited and nervous to spend more time with her sibling.

Back in Vail, at Meredith’s vacation rental, the women dressed up for an Oktoberfest themed dinner.

Whitney brought her ‘shotski,’ but Mary declined to participate. A chef curated a themed meal and then afterwards they went outside for desserts and s’mores.

Mary decided she wanted to go to bed early because no one was really listening to her. Whitney reminded Mary that she told her at the cooking class that they were not friends. Whitney said she was hurt by the things she said. Mary appeared to be falling asleep and Whitney asked her if she was even listening.

‘I don’t think Mary gives a f*** about me,’ Whitney said in a confessional.

Mary told her that she really hurt her, too, when she didn’t pick the phone up when she called to invite her to the cooking class. Mary told Whitney that she didn’t listen to her and Whitney said that accusation hurt her.

‘I’m not your child, Mary,’ said Whitney.

‘Thank god you are not,’ Mary replied.

Mary then got up and walked off and later said in a confessional that she left because Whitney had been drinking the whole night and she didn’t think she would remember their conversation.

‘Why would I sit here and waste my time and argue with Whitney about something she is not going to remember,’ said Mary.

‘I think I just got excommunicated from Mary’s church,’ Whitney quipped as Mary stormed off saying ‘not tonight.’

Whitney told the other housewives that there had been a lot of talk about Mary but that she had protected her. She said Mary’s congregation believes that she is God. Heather asked if they were worshipping her and Whitney said ‘yes.’

Whitney asked Lisa what Cameron knew, but Lisa wouldn’t share any information.

‘People have to be able to trust me with sharing things,’ said Lisa.

Meredith then shared that she had a conversation with Mary earlier in the day where she confronted her about the cryptic rumors she had heard about her church. Mary told her that it wasn’t unusual for people to have negative things to say about a religion.

Lisa told the women that her friend Cameron had ‘extreme religious trauma being a member of her church’ and that he was no longer a member. Meredith said she was sick of all the cryptic accusations  and declared that she wanted a concrete example of something that Mary did.

‘He mortgaged his house and gave her $300 grand,’ Lisa blurted out.

The Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City will return next Sunday on Bravo.
