Residents of Ikosi/Ketu area of Lagos, on Wednesday morning, woke up to a violent clash believed to be between rival cultists in the area and its environs.
Many believed that the clash between the rival cultists in the area was that of supremacy but little did the public know that it was something else.
Having restored normalcy to the area, the Lagos State Police Command, upon preliminary investigation, revealed that the clash between the cultists; Eye and Aye Bucanneer was as a result of revenue generation in the Ikosi/Ketu fruits market.
The Chief Superintendent of Police in the State, Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement, also revealed that 15 suspects with charms, locally-made pistols, and cartridges were apprehended.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the crisis was connected to the revenue generation at the Ketu fruits market.”
“Efforts are in top gear to apprehend other fleeing members of the gangs that orchestrated crisis in the area, ” the statement read in part.
The statement also revealed that Hakkem Odumosu, the Commissioner of Police in the state has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Criminal Investigation Department in Panti, for further investigation.
The Police Chief in the State also reiterated the commitment of the police in suppressing criminalities in the state.
