Sophie Cachia Reveals How Her Children Reacted To Split From Husband And Engagement To A Woman

She announced her engagement to girlfriend Maddie Garrick in March, two years after splitting from her AFL star husband Jaryd Cachia.

And controversial mummy blogger Sophie Cachia has now lifted the lid on her ‘blended family’, revealing how her young children reacted to her divorce and subsequent relationship with a woman.

‘It’s just teaching [my kids] that life can go in alternative ways,’ Sophie, 31, who shares son Bobby, eight, and daughter Florence, five, with ex Jaryd, said on The Morning Show on Wednesday.

‘[Jaryd and I] always said to both of our children, “We are always family, [that] mummy and daddy might not love each other as husband and wife anymore but nothing takes away the fact that we are family.”‘

Sophie said she was ‘proud’ to be raising children in an alternative family structure.

Meanwhile, Jaryd recently announced he had moved on from his ex-wife with a woman named Jacinta, who has an eight-year-old son, Max.

Realistic: ‘[Our] blended family is beautiful. And that’s not to say that it doesn’t face its issues. Any co-parenting situation is difficult,’ she added

Jacinta has since formed a close friendship with Sophie and Maddie, 30.

‘I met [a woman] and my whole world changed,’ Sophie told Stellar in April.

‘He knows how much credit and respect I give him for allowing me to process what I needed to process. He chose soul over ego when it came to helping me,’ she said of her ex.

Jaryd chose to be compassionate when it came to his wife’s sexual awakening.

‘Being a prick and storming out wasn’t going to help the situation and, at the end of the day, I was never in the dark about anything, and I respect Soph for that,’ he said.

Sophie announced her engagement to Maddie in March this year, posting a loved-up photo of the pair on Instagram.

She had married footy player Jaryd in April 2016, but they split in September 2019.

Following her marriage breakdown, she briefly dated Matildas star Alanna Kennedy.

The pair called it quits in early 2020, and shortly thereafter Sophie started dating Maddie.
