Super Eagles: Ndidi Open To New Role Under Finidi George 2

Wilfred Ndidi has given the assurance that he will take up any role assigned to him by new Super Eagles coach Finidi George.

The Super Eagles midfielder said this during a recent chat with Punch News after returning to the country for the football off season.

Ndidi, while playing for Leicester City in the just-concluded football season played as a midfielder but also had the license to play in the final third.

While doing this, the Super Eagles midfielder scored four goals and provided five assists for Leicester City in 32 league matches as they make their return to the Premier League.

While Chatting with Punch News, Ndidi admitted that he played more of an attacking role at Leicester City but said he willing to play any role coach Finidi asks him to play ahead of the matches against South Africa and Benin Republic next month.

“We have our coach (George) Finidi and it’s his tactics that matter, wherever he wants anyone to play.”

“He sees the team the way he wants the team to play. The role I played in Leicester was attacking midfield and I came back to help the defence, which is normal and natural for me.”

But I don’t know how the coach is going to approach the game against South Africa but wherever he puts me, I’ll be so excited to give my best and help the team to win,” He told Punch.

Wilfred Ndidi is expected to feature when the Super Eagles take on South Africa on June 7 and Benin Republic on June 10 as the team look to get their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification back on track.
