On Monday’s premiere episode of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia, viewers were introduced to fake influencer, The David. 

Contestant Poh Ling Yeow was tasked with convincing the other campmates he’s the real deal in order to win food for the campsite. 

But it turns out The David – real name David Subritzky – does have a reality TV pedigree.

The nightclub host, who lives between Australia, England and New Zealand, is the sibling of Big Brother Australia star, Layla Subritzky. 

Layla appeared on season nine of the show in 2012, where she was runner-up, placing second in the competition. 

The former reality star shared some Instagram Stories videos of her brother in action on the show on Monday night.

David, who is now based on the Gold Coast, has an English and Maori background, and has another sister, influencer Holly Sophia Subritzky.

He recently celebrated his first anniversary with his Australian Armenian body builder boyfriend, Stephen James, who is also a Doctor of Law. 

‘Happy one year anniversary to my man! Lots of fun memories shared together and many more to come!’ David wrote alongside a post shared in December.

Known as ‘The David’, the phoney Instagram celebrity made his way into the camp on Monday with the rest of the cast, and he was a hit with viewers.  

‘The David is an absolute icon already,’ Tweeted one person, while another added, ‘Love David’s sensible shoes for the outback!’ 

‘Oh, I love ‘The David’ in all the white suit with the sharp glittery blue eyeliner… secret mission on,’ someone else added.

In a post shared to his Instagram on Monday, David told his newfound fans that he may be staying on the show long-term. 

‘Who knows, stay tuned,’ he replied, when asked if he was taking part in a cameo or going all the way through to the end.
