US Court dismisses fraud case against Hushpuppi’s associate, Mr Woodberry!
A US court has dismissed the fraud case levelled against Hushpuppi’s associate, Olalekan Ponle popularly known as Woodberry.
Woodberry was arrested alongside Hushpuppi on the 10th of June in Dubai by a combined team of the city’s police and the agents of the Federal Bereau of Investigation before they were extradited to the United States.
He (Woodberry) was arraigned before a US District Court sitting in Illinois and was accused of deceiving a Chicago-based company of transferring a sum of $15.3m to him among other charges.
However, John Launch, a US Attorney on Monday filed a motion seeking for the dismissal of the charges against Ponle without prejudice.
Mr Lausch said; “Counsel for the government has spoken with counsel for the defendant and defendant’s counsel has no objection to this motion. Respectfully submitted,”
The court consequently granted the dismissmal of the case against Ponle.
Judge Robert W. Gettleman ruled that;
“Without objection, the complaint against defendant Ponle is dismissed without prejudice. Motion presentment hearing set for 7/23/2020 is stricken,”
Hushpuppi on the other hand still remain in US detention and his case has since been transferred from Illinois to California.
