While the cream of the WAG crop turned out for Melbourne’s Derby Day on Saturday, some wives and girlfriends stayed home. 

Nadia Bartel, Bec Judd, Jessie Murphy and Megan Gale all had better things to do – including lounging by the pool and getting their nails done.

Apparently not quite ready to face the red carpet after her recent snorting scandal, former footy WAG Nadia opted for a run instead.

The 36-year-old shared an Instagram Stories post in which she showed off her pink New Balance sneakers as she took in a workout at home rather than at the races.

Model Megan, 46, meanwhile got all glammed up but had nowhere to go despite the festivities on offer.

She took a trip to a nail salon instead, getting a gorgeous pink manicure and encouraging her fans to support local businesses in an Instagram post.

Jessie, 30, had her reasons for not going along, sharing multiple Instagram posts about horse safety.

Alongside photos from earlier races she had attended with footballer husband Marc Murphy, the beauty explained her stance.

The model wrote: ‘Marc and I have always loved going to the races for the Victorian Spring Carnival.

‘But this year I’ve committed to learning more about the real stars of the track, the horses. We are partnering with @springcarnival to get a view of what goes on behind the scenes to ensure horse welfare is paramount.

The footy WAG shared a series of pictures to her Instagram Stories of herself and her children – son Oscar, 10, daughter Billie, seven, and twin sons Darcy and Tom, four – relaxing poolside at Hotel Chadstone. 

It’s a different scene for the socialite, who is a usual attendee at Melbourne’s Spring Racing Carnival.
